1966 Pontiac GTO - Tri-Power Restomod

1966 Pontiac GTO

Performance UpgradeCompleted April 2024

The Story

Chris wanted the ultimate street/strip GTO that could win shows on Saturday and run 11s on Sunday. His numbers-matching car was too valuable to modify, so he found a project car for this build and went all-out.

Challenges

  • Build a street-legal car capable of 11-second quarter miles
  • Maintain classic GTO appearance inside and out
  • Handle well at both cruise nights and the track
  • Modern reliability for road trips to events
  • Comfortable enough for his wife to enjoy cruising

Solutions

  • Built 461ci stroker Pontiac with modern EFI making 550hp
  • Full mini-tub rear for wide drag radials
  • Adjustable coilover suspension for street and strip
  • TKX 5-speed for highway cruising and drag strip launches
  • Full vintage air and sound deadening for comfort

What Chris Reynolds Says

Frank built exactly what I described - a comfortable cruiser that runs 11.4 at the track. His drag racing background was key. He knew what it takes to be fast AND reliable.
