FROM THE
STRIP TO
THE SHOP
Frank Romano built his reputation at the drag strip, not in a classroom. Since 1982, that uncompromising standard has driven every classic car restoration that leaves this shop.
THE SOCAL LEGACY
01. The Englishtown Education
Frank's first classroom was a pit lane at Englishtown Raceway — NJ's legendary drag strip. He learned more about engines in one season than most mechanics learn in a decade. If you couldn't read the data from a quarter-mile run, you were guessing.
02. The Quarter-Mile Obsession
Drag racing is a sport of margins. A tenth of a second is the difference between first and nowhere. That discipline — tuning by fractions, tolerating nothing approximate — carries into every restoration Frank signs off on today.
03. From Strip to Shop
In 1995, Frank made the call to stop racing and start preserving. The performance knowledge didn't go away — it became the foundation for a restoration approach that treats every classic like a machine built to be driven, not just displayed.
NOT JUST A MECHANIC.
A CUSTODIAN OF SPEED.
"We don't fix cars. We honour the promise the original engineer made when they drew the first line."
Period-Correct Perfection
We source genuine NOS parts or fabricate custom components to original factory blueprints. Every item is catalogued against the production specification. If the original engineer walked through our doors, they'd recognise every single bolt.
Drag-Spec Durability
Every restoration is engineered to handle the torque of a standing-start launch, even if it's destined for a concours lawn. Track standards, street results.
THE MIDNIGHT TREATMENT
Our facility is more than a workshop. It's a precision environment built around the idea that great restorations happen when you eliminate every variable — temperature, contamination, shortcuts. Outfitted with vintage Sun diagnostic machines alongside modern CNC tooling, we bridge the visceral soul of the original era with 21st-century tolerances.

Frank “Nitro” Romano
“I don't look at a car as a machine. I look at it as a promise made by a designer forty years ago — that it would thrill anyone brave enough to drop the hammer. My job is to keep that promise alive.”
