One master, one bench, one car at a time.

Frank Sizer ran the quarter mile at Santa Pod through the late ’70s. In 1980 he traded the strip for a garage in Leighton Buzzard — and 46 years later the standard hasn’t changed. An independent specialist shop on classic, American and modern cars: servicing, repairs, tuning, recommissioning and the hard-to-source jobs. Hands-on, honest, one master.

Frank’s story

From the strip at Santa Pod to an independent garage in Leighton Buzzard.

Late ’70s — Santa Pod

Frank was twenty, running pit support for a small-block Chevy team. He spent his weekends turning wrenches between rounds and learned two things at once: how a setup a tenth of a second off ends your day, and how to find the fault the team owner couldn’t. Small windows, no second chances, the timing slip as the audit.

That is still how the garage runs. Cars move slower indoors. The standard didn’t change.

1980 — Leighton Buzzard

Frank opened the garage with one stall, one ramp and a borrowed compressor. The first car through the bay was a ’67 Camaro that needed a head gasket and a timing chain — he charged sixty-eight pounds and still has the invoice. 46 years on, the work is the same shape: a car comes in with a problem and goes out with a solution. The car you book in is the car Frank works on — classic, American or modern, a service, a tuning job, a recommissioning, or something rare that nobody else will take on.

I don’t hand your car to anyone else. It comes in with a problem, it goes out fixed — done properly, explained plainly, and priced for the work it actually needed.

The method

One master. Every job, start to finish.

No assignment desk, no production line, no apprentice handed the awkward part — the car you drop off is the car Frank works on and hands back.

Forty years on the tools means the everyday and the difficult get the same pair of hands. A routine service, an MOT, a tuning job, a recommissioning, a left-hand-drive V8 or a hard-to-source classic — it’s all Frank’s, from the diagnosis through to the road test.

You’re told what the car needs and what it doesn’t, in plain English, before the work starts. Nothing gets done you didn’t agree to, and nothing leaves the bay Frank wouldn’t happily drive himself.

“I don’t hand a car back until I’d happily put my own name on the registration.”
