1970 Plymouth 'Cuda 340 - Mopar Restoration

1970 Plymouth Barracuda

Full RestorationCompleted September 2024

The Story

Kevin's 'Cuda had been "restored" in the 1990s but the work was poor quality. The paint was already failing, the engine was tired, and many parts were incorrect. Kevin wanted it done right this time with proper research and quality work.

Challenges

  • Previous restoration used incorrect parts throughout
  • 340 engine rebuilt poorly with wrong components
  • Body work hiding rust under thick filler
  • Wrong wheels and trim for the year and model
  • Incorrect colors and stripe package

Solutions

  • Researched broadcast sheet and fender tag for correct options
  • Properly rebuilt 340 with correct date-coded components
  • Stripped to bare metal, properly repaired all rust
  • Sourced correct Rallye wheels and trim
  • Repainted in correct Plum Crazy with proper stripe delete

What Kevin OBrien Says

I learned the hard way that cheap restorations cost more in the long run. Frank did it right - researched every detail and used the correct parts. Now I have a car I'm proud to show.
